About

The Coconut Industry Board is a statutory body established by the Coconut Industry Control Act of 1945. The Board consists of nine members, four of whom including the Chairman, are appointed by the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries. The remaining five are elected by registered coconut growers and must themselves be registered coconut growers or the Managing Directors or managers of companies which are registered coconut growers. The Board also manufactures and retails coconut-based products, including fresh coconut water, coconut oil, and other coconut-derived goods, through its retail outlet known as the Coconut Shop located in Kingston.
