BAR-U-EAT

Founded by Sam, whose inspiration came from a handmade energy bar he discovered while guiding in the West Fjords of Iceland, the company was built on the premise that snack foods should contain nothing artificial, nothing unnecessary, and nothing weird. Sam partnered with his childhood best friend Jason to take the brand full-time, and the original recipes remain unchanged to this day. 

BAR U EAT produces bars that are entirely organic, non-GMO, gluten-free, and free from added oils, preservatives, artificial sweeteners, and fillers. The core ingredient lineup includes Medjool dates, thick rolled oats, and honey — each chosen for their functional nutritional properties. Dates are included for their role in immune system support, inflammation reduction, and hormone regulation; oats provide complex carbohydrates for sustained energy performance; and honey contributes digestive support and natural antibacterial properties. 

The bars are formulated with a 4:1 carbohydrate-to-protein ratio, designed to fuel endurance and outdoor activity. The bar's texture is described as soft and chewy with a crunchy finish, making them suitable for active consumers across a wide range of lifestyles and adventures. 

BAR U EAT targets the outdoor recreation and active lifestyle consumer segment, positioning its products as ideal for hikers, athletes, and anyone seeking a clean-label, whole-food snack. The company emphasizes transparent ingredient sourcing and minimal processing, aiming to set a higher standard in the natural snack bar category. 

Products are sold in boxed formats, such as 12-bar boxes, and are available directly to consumers. The brand was originally developed and produced out of a paddleboard shop in Steamboat Springs before scaling into a dedicated snack company. BAR U EAT also expresses a commitment to reducing packaging waste, having been founded in part as a reaction to the prevalence of single-use plastic packaging in the conventional energy bar market.
